In just a few weeks the Crestline Piggly Wiggly will be closed and folks here know time is running out.
Monday they packed the Mountain Brook City Council chambers pleading with the council to do something. Council says their hands are tied because this is an issue between a landlord and his tenant.
We know the two could not come to terms on a lease agreement which is why the store is closing and will be replaced by what many here believe will be a CVS. And with the closing date right around the corner people here are hoping the council can do something.
Residents had a chance to step up and voice their concerns.
"Not only do people in this community shop at the Pig. People driving through community shop at Pig and stop on their way home because its convenient," one resident said.
"Please let the city council instead of saying haven't been asked, go back in your chambers and say we haven't been asked but we can't still offer, we can still do something. It may not work but its worth a try," another resident said.
Mayor Lawrence T. Oden says this week he and the council will look to see if there are any avenues they could pursue. He can't make promises but will look into it.
