GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The Guntersville city council unanimously approved a tax break incentive package to bring in an upscale grocery store to the area.

Council members heard from area residents prior to making the vote to allow Publix to come to town.

The new store will be located near the intersection of Highway 79 South and Highway 431.

The developers are also providing $100,000 to build a park and a pier on the lake at the store. It's also expected to bring 120 new jobs to the area.

"I do think it will be a benefit. The more people you have in your city the more it benefits everyone because it lets everyone showcase what they have," said Guntersville Mayor Leigh Dollar.

City officials believe the project should be complete by December 2014.
