BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

With the new Affordable Care Act health exchanges opening Oct. 1, many consumers still have questions about the exchanges and how the new law will affect them.

To help answer some of those questions, FOX6 is teaming up with BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama, St. Vincent's, the Alabama Association of Health Underwriters and Balch & Bingham law firm.

If you still have questions you would like answered, there are several resources available:

General Questions:

-Healthcare Hotline (24/7) 1-800-318-2596

-Visit www.healthcare.gov to learn which plans you may qualify for. You can purchase a plan through the health exchange, which open for enrollment Oct. 1.

-Online chat available at www.healthcare.gov. Click "See Your Options." Once the page loads, click "Live Chat" in the bottom right corner. A new window will open to chat.

-BlueCross BlueShield of Alabama has created a special website dedicated to explaining and exploring the Affordable Care Act. Visit http://www.hcralabamablue.com/ for more information or call 1-855-890-7416.
