HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Airport leaders from all across Alabama are in Huntsville this week for the annual Aviation Council Conference.

There are 82 public use airports in the state. The conference is a time for airport officials to come together to get new ideas on how to build, run, and maintain and airport.

They also freshen up on rules and regulations from the FAA.

Aviation Council President Wayne Cameron said this is when airport leaders learn the FAA's vision for funding and projects for the next year.

"We're in sequestration right now, that's why we have, I think, such a large group here, because people are seeking answers," he said.

Cameron said the speakers are the highlight of the conference.

Monday, Mike Durant told his war story about Somalia. His story was turned into the book and movie "Black Hawk Down."
