ARAB, AL (WAFF) -

Two people in Marshall County were charged with hosting an open house party. Police arrested them after finding several underage drinkers at the home over the weekend.

Arab police warn people not to engage in this kind of behavior. The underage drinkers were released to their parents, but the two who hosted the party went to jail.

Police responded to a home on Rose Lane after receiving a call about a party. When they arrived and were let inside the home, police say there was lots of alcohol in plain view.

Police arrested 21-year-old Barry Murphree and 20-year-old Jimmy Conley who live on Rose Lane. They were charged with hosting an open house party.

Nine underage drinkers were also at the home. Police say people should think twice about hosting parties and involving young people.

"We want teenagers to be safe. We don't want them out drinking. We don't want them to get carried away when they think they're ok," said Arab Police Chief Ed Ralston. "Even though they're not an adult, we want them to act as a responsible adult because that's how many of them want to be treated."

The two were later released on bond.
