Jury selection begins Tuesday in Burgess murder trial

MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Jury selection begins Tuesday morning for a Marshall County man charged with the murder of a Claysville business owner.

The defense lost one motion Monday when a judge said pictures of the victim will be allowed. Attorneys for Wesley Claude Burgess, 36, argued the photos should not be admissible due to their graphic nature.

Prosecutors said Ricky Moody, owner of Motors and Cash, was stabbed about 30 times and had been hit numerous times with a hard object.

Moody was found outside his business in October 2009.

The case went unsolved for a year until his arrest in November 2010 when Sheriff Scott Walls said his office obtained a confession to the crime and filed charges.

Another cold morning out there today, but this is the last of that! Temperatures this morning are into the mid to upper teens and low 20s, but the wind chill is pretty much nonexistent because we have a light wind from the south at 2 mph.
