Educators focus on technology in the classroom

FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Moving schools into the twenty-first century is the goal of the "Every Child, Every Day" conference being held in Florence.

The two-day event is focusing on how teachers and school districts as a whole can implement more technology inside the classroom.

Leaders say with the advancement in technology, the digital tools help keep students engaged, giving them endless opportunities to reach their full potential.

"If we lined 100 children up on a goal line and raced to the other end, there would be no two finished at the same time. It's the same way with their learning," said UNA Director of Education Research & In-Service, Dr. Earl Gardner. "They have different methods of learning, they have different abilities and we need to let the students take them from wherever they are and as far as they could possibly go and going digital like this is one of the answers."

Schools from districts across the Tennessee Valley are represented in the conference which continues Tuesday.
