GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

An Albertville woman was jailed on charges of passing counterfeit money.

According to police, 21-year-old Megan Mitchell is charged with possession of a forged instrument.
Guntersville police said she passed fake 20 dollar bills at two businesses over the weekend.

"Based on information provided by those businesses, the patrol division was able to catch up with the individual that passed the money," explained Captain John East. "They found that person to have more counterfeit money on their person at that time."

Police recovered approximately $80 in counterfeit money. Mitchell was booked into the Guntersville Jail. Her bond has not been set.
