Man convicted in police shootout sentenced to life

A judge sentence Samuel Ward to life in prison for attempted murder. He was convicted in August in connection with a 2011 shootout involving two Huntsville police officers.

Ward was shot in the incident and was booked into jail after he was released from the hospital.

Before Ward was convicted of attempted murder and assault for the shootout, Ward was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison for another altercation with a Huntsville police officer.

On April 3rd, 2010 a Huntsville Police officer suffered a broken bone in his face, a permanent scar on his lip, and a dislocated shoulder during a scuffle with Ward during an arrest.
