OPELIKA, AL (WAFF) - Testimony has wrapped up for the week in the trial of a man charged with the murder of an Anniston police officer.
Joshua Russell is accused of shooting Officer Justin Sollohub to death two years ago.
Prosecutors played videotaped interviews of Russell, where he said he pulled a gun to try to scare Sollohub during a chase and the gun went off accidentally.
Russell claimed Sollohub would back up his story, apparently unaware that Sollohob was clinging to life in the hospital.
The trial was moved to Opelika due to intense media coverage of the shooting in Anniston.
