ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -

A Madison man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly trying to pay for his fast food with a counterfeit $50 bill he received for a drug sale.

Byron Christian Dubose, 28, has been charged with criminal possession of forged instruments after he allegedly attempted to pass the bogus bill at a Taco Bell in Athens, police said. Employees noticed the fake $50 bill and called police.

During questioning, Dubose told investigators he got the counterfeit money from two guys he sold drugs to the night before. Investigators recovered $700 in counterfeit money in $5, $50 and $100 denominations.

The investigation into this case is continuing and more arrests are possible, police said. Dubose was booked at the police department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail.
