FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Multiple agencies across the Shoals served drug warrants Thursday morning, cracking down on illegal drug activity in Lauderdale County.

Just after 6 a.m. Thursday, agents began knocking on doors looking for suspects. One by one, they were cuffed, transported and booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center. 40 warrants are being served as part of an 11 month investigation stemming from last year's roundup called "Operation Groomsmen."

Dubbed "Round 2," these suspects are accused of selling heroin, cocaine, prescription pills and other drugs to undercover agents.

"These guys are street-level to mid-level rug dealers," said Chuck Hearn of the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force. 'During the course of the operation we made over 117 controlled drug buys from these individuals."

Agencies involved include Lauderdale County DTF, Florence PD, Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, ABC Board, ABI, FBI, Rogersville PD, Colbert Co DTF & US Marshals.

"We're going to do everything we possibly can to curb the drug dealing in Lauderdale County," said Hearn.

Officials said if you suspect illegal drug activity, or any other suspicious activity in your community, to call and report it to local law enforcement.
