The Auburn Tigers (2-0) continued game-week preparation for its SEC opener against Mississippi State (1-1) with a two-hour workout in full pads at the Auburn Athletics Complex practice fields on Wednesday.
"The older players really understand it and are trying to make the younger guys understand we play in the best conference in college football," said Coach Gus Malzahn. "So, we will definitely have to raise our level."
Auburn has won four of the last five against Mississippi State and 10 of the last 12 in the series.
"The past few games against them have been really physical," said Malzahn, who was 3-0 against the Bulldogs as the Tigers' offensive coordinator from 2009-11. "That's the way this league is. Every week, it's going to be a physical game."
Kickoff for the Auburn-Mississippi State game is at 6 p.m. Central on ESPN2 as the Tigers conclude a three-game home stand to open the season.
