Staffing firms offer help with job searches

Posted: Updated:
LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Wednesday's announcement that the International Paper mill in Courtland left hundreds of people wondering how they will find work and what that work might be.

There are several staffing firms in the Shoals willing to help those on the job search, especially those who are affected by the plant closure in Lawrence County.

The group at Lyons HR said networking and keeping a positive attitude are the keys to finding work. Offices like theirs are designed to help people find jobs. They offer resume assistance, mock interviews and even on-site testing for a variety of skills.

Human Resource Manager Jessica Sanderson said to not be afraid to seek help and use services that are available. "We give them an opportunity to come in and talk to someone. We can talk about their skills, what they're looking for and maybe give some direction as far as where their skills could lead them in today's job market," she said.

Sanderson said it is important for everyone to keep an updated resume and, once again, that positive attitudes will help when re-entering the job market.
