LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A traffic stop in Town Creek led to the arrest of two Shoals area men on felony drug charges and the confiscation of a large quantity of hydroponic marijuana.

According to the Lawrence County sheriff's office, agents with the county's drug task force made the traffic stop and noticed the two men reaching into their waistbands.

The agents then removed the driver, Mark Anthony Harris, 20, of Sheffield and his passenger, Darius Marquise Freeman, 21, of Muscle Shoals from the car. A search of Harris and Freeman revealed the marijuana in the waistbands of their pants.

Agents found a loaded semiautomatic handgun under the driver's seat, a set of digital scales, along with prepackaged Baggies of hydro marijuana inside the vehicle that had been packaged for resale. The agents also seized a large quantity of U.S. currency from inside the vehicle.

Harris and Freeman were arrested on one count of unlawful possession of marijuana in the first degree and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Harris also was charged with one count of unlawful carry of a pistol for not possessing a valid pistol permit.

Freeman was also charged with one count of possession of marijuana after agents located the marijuana cigar, which Freeman said was for personal use.
