UNA Cracks D-2 Football Poll

Posted: Updated:

FLORENCE-- Following a 42-7 season-opening win over Miles College, the University of North Alabama has moved into the American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II Top 25 poll at No. 22.

It is the Lions first national ranking since finishing the 2011 season ranked 14th. UNA was not ranked at all during the 2012 season and was not listed in the Division II pre-season poll for 2013.

North Alabama was ranked in 75 consecutive NCAA Division II polls from 2005 to 2010.

The Lions have been ranked in the NCAA Division II Top Twenty Five final poll 17 times since 1980, including an unprecedented three straight No. 1 rankings under Wallace to end the 1993, 1994 and 1995 seasons.

UNA travels to take on Football Championship Subdivision member Jacksonville State Saturday at Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium at 7 p.m.
