MONTGOMERY, AL -

The three Republican candidates competing for the House District 74 seat recently vacated by former State Rep. Jay Love will participate in a campaign forum being sponsored by ARSEA/APEAL, a 20,000-member statewide organization that represents retirees and active employees eligible to retire on the state, county and municipal government levels.

The forum is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. (registration 9:00 a.m.) on Thursday, September 12, at Montgomery's Crump Senior Center, which is located at 1751 Congressman William L. Dickinson Drive.

House District 74, which includes East Central Montgomery, has the highest concentration of state retirees and employees of any State House district in Alabama. ARSEA/APEAL invited over 1400 members that reside in the district to attend the candidate forum on Thursday.

Former Montgomery School Board President Charlotte Meadows, current Montgomery School Board Member Heather Sellers, and Montgomery County Commissioner Dimitri Polizos have each committed to participating in the ARSEA/APEAL event.

The legislative seat became open when Love announced his resignation from the House in order to pursue business opportunities.  No Democratic candidates qualified to run for the seat.  The special Republican primary election is scheduled for October 8.

Founded in 1980, The Alabama Retired State Employees' Association recently combined with the Alabama Public Employees' Advocacy League and in 2013, rebranded as ARSEA/APEAL.
