Altercation between two deaf men leads to a stabbing at a Birmingham Church

 BIRMINGHAM,AL (WBRC) - Two men who are deaf got into an altercation around 9 a.m this morning at the Church of the Reconciler 112 14th St North in Birmingham. 

 Reverend Matt Lacey, Senior Minister with the Church told FOX-6  two men who are deaf got into an altercation.  The two men were fighting by signing to each other. Reverend Lacey said one of the men took a sharp object and stabbed the other man in the upper chest area.

The victim was transported to UAB hospital with non life threatening injuries.  Police took the suspect into custody. The Church of the Reconciler has a  special ministry for the homeless. Reverend Lacey said his staff is trained to look for and handle altercations but since this one was non verbal they were taken by surprise.
