RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Ridgeland man is trapping pet cats in his neighborhood and some of his neighbors aren't happy about it.

But it turns out, it's not against the law.

The traps are in plain view at a home on Stonebridge Court. Residents showed MSNewsNow pictures of cats in the traps.

Ridgeland police say the man is working with them to cut down on the number of stray cats in the city.

Ridgeland has a new animal control ordinance that requires not only dogs to be on a leash but cats as well.
