Charges temporarily dropped against Scottsboro woman

SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF) -

Charges against a woman accused of threatening children at a Scottsboro daycare with a gun have been dropped – for now.

Prosecutors made the request to drop menacing and terrorist threat charges at a preliminary hearing for 48-year-old Michelyn McNeal on Thursday. District Attorney Charlie Rhodes said it was a strategic move after defense attorneys issued subpoenas to some very young children to testify.

McNeal was charged in July with using a loaded gun to threaten kids between the ages of five and twelve if they kept letting a football hit her fence.

The case is expected to be presented to a grand jury later this month.
