A Leighton man is behind bars after allegedly stealing and then pawning a .22-caliber pistol this week.

The Colbert County Sheriff's Office said Brandon Byars, 24, is charged with burglary and theft. His bond was set at $5,000.

According to a press statement, the Sheriff's deputy received a burglary report saying a Jennings .22-caliber semiautomatic pistol valued at $125 was stolen. Byars was listed as a suspect.

Investigators took him into custody Thursday. The statement said Byars admitted to the burglary and theft. The pistol was recovered from a Russellville pawn shop.
