Man leads Huntsville police on chase

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Police arrested a man after authorities said he led them on chase in Huntsville, Friday afternoon.

According to authorities, police attempted to make a traffic stop at the intersection of Meadow Drive and University Drive. Officers said the car traveled through a gas station without stopping and went eastbound on University before turning left onto Yukon Street.

Police said the vehicle made several more turns before stopping in an alley behind a housing complex. The driver then got out of the vehicle and ran from police.

Authorities caught the man after a brief foot chase. Huntsville police said the offender spit out chewing gum and marijuana in the back of the patrol car.

The name of the suspect has not yet been released.
