MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Officials in Madison County are expected to find out how much state funding they'll get to improve our roads.

On Friday, the state's transportation director will announce how the $50 million of ATRIP funding will be divvied up in Madison County. ATRIP is short for the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program.

All summer long, city and county leaders in Madison County have brought attention to various road projects expected to alleviate traffic headaches.

In Huntsville, Mayor Tommy Battle cited areas along Zierdt Road and Old Madison Pike as priority areas for improvement.

Each municipality agreed to match a portion of the ATRIP funds, letting them complete most, if not all, of the road projects on their lists.

Friday's announcement is scheduled at the Madison County Legislative Office at noon.
