Albertville hosting K9 competition

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Police dogs from North Alabama and Tennessee are in Albertville working to make sure they can keep residents in their hometowns safe.

The dogs are at the Albertville Recreation Center being certified.

Canines and their handlers work and train together daily.

Thursday, the police dogs put their talents on display in the areas of obedience, agility, evidence recovery, as well as suspect search and apprehension as they are being graded for their abilities.

"This makes the dog court-defensible," said Chief Judge Michael Posey. "This holds them to a standard that can prove they can do the job as a police dog."

The three-day certification trials conclude Friday.
