NEW HOPE, AL (WAFF) -

A children's clinic in New Hope will provide dental services to students for free starting Wednesday.

The clinic's dental staff will visit New Hope Elementary School to screen students in the classrooms. Students will get a form to give to their parents letting them know what follow-up treatment is needed.

Organizers said the service they're providing is critical.

"There's such a need out here, this is such a rural area. To find a dentist who takes medicaid that's close by is very difficult for our clients," said NHCC Executive Director Marcie Williams.

Children who aren't insured will still receive free services.

In a few months, the clinic will also offer optical services to children.

The clinic operates off grants, donations, and funds provided by Huntsville Hospital.
