Walker County football coach resigns in wake of post-game fight

Posted: Updated:

The head coach of the Walker County High School football team has resigned. John Holladay's resignation comes in the wake of last Friday's post-game fight with Cullman assistant coach Matt Hopper after Cullman's 13-10 win.

Before Tuesday's resignation, the superintendents and other representatives of the two schools met with the Alabama High School Athletic Association in Montgomery. The AHSAA released a statement but did not say what was discussed or if the association will take any disciplinary against the schools, coaches or players.

Holladay was placed on administrative leave by the school for his part in the fight. Cullman High has not taken any action against Hopper.
