Violent start to the weekend: 2 dead after 4 east side shootings

Cleveland homicide detectives are investigating four separate east side shootings that left two men dead, and 2 other men injured.

The shootings began Friday night, and continued until early Saturday morning.  

The first shooting death happened at 11:18 p.m. Friday near East 109th Street and St. Clair. Police say a man was shot in connection with a robbery. He was taken to Metro Hospital where he later died.

Police responded to second call for a man shot at 2 a.m. Saturday. The man was shot at East 49th and Hamilton Avenue. He was also transported to Metro Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

In addition to these homicides, police are also investigating two other shootings.

Police say a man was shot multiple times on Benwood Avenue at 9 p.m. Friday, and another man was shot on East 76th Street at 2 a.m. Both victims were rushed to Metro Hospital for treatment.

Police say they have not determined if any of the shootings are related.
