Jackson Co. woman faces attempted murder charge

FLAT ROCK, AL (WAFF) -

Jackson County authorities said a woman tried to kill her neighbor. 54-year-old Karrey Dillingham is now in the Jackson County Jail on charges of criminal trespass and attempted murder.

The incident happened at the victim's home on County Road 756 in Flat Rock around 4 a.m. Friday. Sheriff's officials are unaware of any domestic issues between the two parties.

"She knocked on the door. The folks came to the door and she pointed a small caliber shotgun at the female that lived at the residence, pulled the trigger, and the gun snapped," said Sheriff Chuck Phillips. "Apparently the safety was on and she was not aware of it."

The victims then shut and locked the door and called 911. Dillingham remains in jail awaiting bond to be set on the attempted murder charge.
