Burglary suspect arrested while getting gas

DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A trip to a Marshall County gas station proved to be more expensive than a Huntsville man anticipated, especially when Morgan County investigators arrested him on burglary charges.

After an investigation that led to the recovery of several stolen weapons and a video game system, investigators suspected Derrick Ayers, 23, of 14005 Whitecastle Court Lane, of burglarizing a Valhermosa Springs home on July 29 and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

On Tuesday, investigators, acting on a tip that Ayers may be in Marshall County, saw a vehicle matching the description of Ayers' car and then they recognized him at the pump. They took him into custody without incident.

Ayers was charged with burglary and is in the Morgan County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
