New Cramton Bowl security measures take effect

Posted: Updated:
MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

It was a show of force at Cramton Bowl Thursday night as Montgomery Public Schools and the Montgomery Police Department implemented new security measures beginning with the Lanier-Northview game.

Everyone who entered the stadium was screened for weapons, even members of the Northview squad. There was also a notable increase in police and other security personnel. Officials said the changes were made in the name of safety at the facility. Fans didn't seem to mind.

"Most of the major events you go to require a screening process," said Kevin Jenkins. "And with all of the crime we've been enduring the past few years months and days, as well. This is taking a very proactive stance."

Officials advise fans arrive at least 30 minutes before kickoff for games at Cramton Bowl to make sure everyone finds their seats in time.
