MARSHALL COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The driver of a van loaded with items allegedly stolen from a home under construction faces burglary charges after his arrest Wednesday in Marshall County.

A Douglas police officer, responding to a suspicious vehicle report, found the white minivan driven by James David Bussey, 20, of Leesburg. The minivan matched the description of the suspicious vehicle.

It was loaded inside from the front to the back and there were items strapped to the roof. The driver also had prescription drugs, but he didn't have a prescription for them, police said. Bussey was arrested and the vehicle impounded.

During a search for a home that may have been burglarized, Chief Eric Speight and Marshall County sheriff's investigators found a home on Mount Hebron Road that was under construction and burglarized. Appliances, construction tools, construction materials and other items valued at a total of $6,500 were taken. There was also more than $10,000 in damage to the home.

Bussey is in the Marshall County Jail with no bond set. He is charged with burglary, possession of burglar tools, receiving stolen property and illegal possession of prescription drugs. More arrests are expected.
