UAH faculty awarded cross-college research grants

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A new initiative at the University of Alabama in Huntsville has paid off for nearly two dozen faculty members.

The new Cross-College Faculty Research program awarded $5,000 grants to 21 tenure-track faculty members for their proposals. The grants are intended to increase collaboration between faculty members from more than one college to generate more competitive proposals.

The program is run through the office of Vice President for Research Dr. Ray Vaughn. He brought the CCFR initiative to UAH based on a program he started at Mississippi State.

"I believe in faculty investment programs and this is one of several that we will announce," Dr. Vaughn said. "This program will likely lead to some very good proposals that would not otherwise have existed."

Teams must be composed of faculty from more than one college and will meet on a regular basis and prepare one or more proposals to an outside funding agency within the first 12 months after the award.

CCFR grants are good for one year, with a maximum of two years of funding available for each endeavor, based on the group's success.
