Authorities investigate two separate wrecks in Tennessee Valley

Good Tuesday evening. Here's a look at a few of the stories we're hard at work on here in the WAFF 48 newsroom.

We're following the latest news on two frightening accidents here in the Valley this afternoon. The first, a three-vehicle accident in Madison involving a garbage truck. At last check, two people were taken to the hospital, one in critical condition.

The other wreck happened on Highway 231 in Park City, Tennessee, just across the Alabama-Tennessee state line. This one involved an 18-wheeler and a car. As we reported earlier this evening on WAFF 48 News, an elderly man and woman were killed in the wreck.

And we're digging deeper into a dangerous trend that's sweeping across the country: "smoking alcohol." People are actually getting drunk from the vapors of alcohol. WAFF 48's Shumuriel Ratliff will have more from medical and drug experts about this alarming trend.

Plus, an update on an over-grown piece of property in Morgan County that we've followed for several months now. I spoke with the commissioner responsible for this area, and will let you know what actions are being taken through the county health department to insure people aren't exposed to any health hazards.

We hope you'll join us for these stories and more on WAFF 48 News at 10.
