2 women arrested in motel meth bust

Two women are behind bars after a meth lab was found in a motel room.

Madison Police said they found the one pot meth lab in a room where 33-year-old Kimberly Champion and 30-year-old Michelle Shannon, both of Huntsville, were staying at the Motel 6 on Madison Boulevard in Madison.

Police were tipped off by hotel management after housekeeping found a stack of stolen identifications and social security cards in a vacant room.

The women were staying at the motel for a few days before housekeeping found the social security cards. However, the women had already moved to another room.

Police got a warrant and found that they were cooking meth inside.

Shannon was charged with first-degree manufacturing a controlled substance and trafficking in stolen identities. Shannon was booked into the Madison County Jail on $255,000 bond.

Champion was also charged manufacturing a controlled substance, trafficking in stolen identities, and second-degree possession of marijuana. Champion was booked into the Madison County Jail on $256,000 bond.

Both women were released earlier this year from the Alabama Department of Corrections where they had been sentenced on identity theft and forgery charges.
