Huntsville man leads female topless equality rally

Posted: Updated:

A Huntsville man is taking a stand, saying women should be able to go topless in public.

Jeff Johnson has organized a rally in Asheville, North Carolina, for three straight years. He lives and works in the Huntsville area and has taken a lot of heat over the rallies, at least that's what he told reporters during Sunday's "Go Topless" event.

"Topless areas like in France or even in the U.S. where people are top-free, they have a lot less problems than people that stay covered up," said Johnson.

Two hundred people attended the rally. No arrests were made.

Authorities said North Carolina law allows women to go topless in public if they so choose.

WAFF 48 News reached out to Johnson but he didn't return the phone calls.
