The spirit of charitable giving was demonstrated Saturday by an area church.

The Closet at Monrovia Church hosted its ‘Back to School Free Shopping Day.' The non-profit organization provides quality new and used garments and shoes to people in need.

Shoppers were also treated to hot dogs and refreshments. The Closet hosts 3 to 4 shopping days every year. Since first opening its doors to the public in April 2012, The Closet has helped over 250 families, giving away almost 5,000 clothing items in the Huntsville metro area.
