FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -

Florence Police are trying to figure out who is behind a string of attempted break-ins and a burglary which happened yearly Wednesday at businesses along Cloverdale Road.

Police said the bandits struck out on their first two attempts. The first was at the drive-thru window at the CVS Pharmacy. After failing to get in, police said they moved a half-mile down the road to a car wash, where they then tried to bust open a coin machine.

Failing to do that, police said the thieves moved on, breaking into the Dollar General across the street, and took $1,000 worth of cell phones from inside.

Investigators said if you remember seeing anything suspicious along Cloverdale Road between 3 and 5 a.m. on Thursday, or if you encounter something suspicious in the area, to call the Florence Police Department immediately.
