Cyclist hospitalized after struck by car

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A "professional bicyclist" was injured Friday afternoon when he was struck by a car on the University of Alabama in Huntsville campus.

The cyclist, whose name was not released, was wearing a helmet and had minor injuries. He was taken to Huntsville Hospital. The car driver was not hurt.

The low-speed collision was near the intersection of Holmes Avenue and John Wright drive. Police said the car was traveling about 15 mph. Police described the bicyclist as a "professional."
