High school concession stand burglarized, student arrested

A Brewer High School student is charged with robbing three concession stands in Morgan County, including the one at his school's football field. The one at Brewer High School's concession stand was discovered Thursday morning. Thanks to some students, authorities made the arrest that afternoon.

The theft created a big buzz in the school. Throughout the day, Principal Jeremy Childers said students were angry someone would steal from their school. He is not surprised that when some of them saw something suspicious, they called it in.

18-year-old Jacob Treakle is a student at Brewer. He is charged for allegedly stealing $500 worth of drinks and candy from the football concession stand, and $100 from a lockbox. Authorities said right after school let out, some of his fellow students noticed he had a lot of candy at a gas station across from school property.

Several students called the school's office. The Morgan County deputy who works as the school's resource officer got there fast and arrested Treakle.

"You take away from kids, they're not happy, just like adults," said Childers. "So when the kids found out, they reported it to the office."

Treakle is also charged with burglarizing two concession stands at nearby Huskey Park. The Morgan County Board of Education will decide how to handle any academic punishments Treakle may face.
