DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A Decatur man was jailed Wednesday after police found methadone pills in his car during a traffic stop.

Decatur police said officers with the department's Anti-Crime Unit stopped a car driven by David Floyd Griffis, 54, at the corner of 8th Street and 19th Avenue SE for an equipment violation. During the investigation, methadone pills were discovered and Griffis was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance. He was also cited for no proof of insurance.

Griffis was booked in the Decatur City Jail and then transferred to the Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of a $3,000 bond.
