LSU freshmen and first-time students move into dorms

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Hundreds of freshmen and first-time students began unloading their belongings and making themselves at home in dorms across the LSU campus Thursday.

Pillows, mini-fridges, clothes and televisions were some of the items parents and their new Tigers hauled into buildings, ready to make their dorms comfortable for the semester.

In the middle of all the excitement, a few students stopped to talk about what they look forward to for their first year at LSU and beyond.

"This is a little more open, say, than compared to high school...flexible," said Ryan Manley, an incoming freshman. "Things like that...new classes, meet new people, whole new experience."

"I'll have a little bit of fun," added Charles Rodenkirch, another incoming freshman. "Hopefully, get the course work done....get that done and get a degree."

Of course, some of the students said they look forward to football season. And, the new Tigers from outside the state said they're ready for some south Louisiana food.

Classes begin bright and early Monday morning.
