MONTGOMERY, AL (WAFF) - The Southern Poverty Law Center is suing the state over the controversial Alabama Accountability Act.
The group announced the suit at a news conference in Montgomery Monday morning.
The SPLC filed the suit on behalf of families who are zoned for a failing school.
The group argues the Accountability Act violates equal protection under the United States constitution because many students have zero access to better schools.
The group claims the act will make failing schools worse than they are already.
