HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Going back to school is reason for everyone to celebrate, especially if you went to the West Side Community Center in Huntsville Friday afternoon.

Organizers teamed up with Huntsville Police to help collect school supplies for the children. It's also their way of establishing a relationship with police to help keep the community safe. "The best way to prevent crime is to educate our kids to become great citizens," said John Hollingsworth with Huntsville Police.

Organizers said they collected plenty of school supplies, including backpacks, paper, and rulers.
