HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

For most kids in the Tennessee Valley, school starts on Monday. Before that though, it was teachers that were getting the lesson.

On Thursday, around 40 teachers from across North Alabama, toured Redstone Arsenal. They got to see how they can use arsenal activities to enhance learning in their classroom.

Teachers toured Army Aviation & Missile Research Development & Engineering Center, Redstone Test Center and NASA-Marshall Space Flight Center.

Angela Hall teaches 8th grade math at Sparkman Middle School. She said that with so many engineering and technology jobs in the Huntsville area, it's important that kids are well versed in the topics, "Students really do need to think outside the box and not just learn a procedure, but see how they can really apply that."

Arsenal officials said they hope teachers will use what they learned in the classroom and then bring kids back for a field trip.
