MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The State of Alabama can now start building its case against a former Montgomery doctor who is accused in the murder for hire case of a popular River Region pest exterminator known as "Critterman".

A jury was struck Tuesday morning for the murder trial of David Nash.

Opening statements for both parties began immediately with the State calling two detectives, a Montgomery fire investigator and representatives for AT&T and T-Mobile as witnesses.

The day's most compelling evidence came in the form of video and still images from the crime scene. The images included bullet casings, bullet holes and graphic photos of the body of Ralph McNeil, known as the "Critterman".

McNeil, 58, was found on the ground about 35 feet from his burned out Toyota pickup truck on January 11, 2011.

Nash is accused of paying cousins Jeremy and Kendall Riley to kill McNeil, who was reportedly in a heated custody battle with Nash's then-fiance, Serena English.

English and Jeremy Riley have already pleaded guilty to the murder. Kendall Riley stood trial for the man's murder earlier in 2013 but a hung jury resulted in a mistrial.
