Wife of accused murderer speaks out

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville Police arrested 30-year-old Kenyatta Deshon Martin and charged him with murder for the death of a 22-year-old woman.

The woman's body was found Monday in an apartment at Executive Lodge on John Wesley Way after a woman told police her husband murdered someone.

Investigators said it appears the victim, Aviona Bronson, died from a single gunshot wound.

Martin is being held in the Metro Jail and his bond has not been set. The investigation is ongoing.

The suspect's wife said Martin confessed to killing Bronson, who he was having an affair with.

"He had me hostage," said Ms. Martin. "He had a knife. I didn't want to panic, so I remained calm."

She said he told her he "snapped." After hearing his confession, Martin's wife managed to get away from her husband and called police immediately. She led them to the scene.

She said Martin had a knife when he confessed, and she was worried he might kill her, too.

Ms. Martin said the hardest part was telling their kids.

"I just told them that their papi has done something really bad and that they won't ever see him again," she said.

The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
