the ninth consecutive year, Montgomery Public Schools Transportation Department
passed its annual bus inspection with flying colors with only seven of 264
buses being tagged for repairs. That resulted in a deficiency rating of 3.3
percent – the Alabama Department of Education considers anything under a 10
percent deficiency excellent.

student population. The system's buses travel more than 4.8 million miles –
equivalent to more than 8.5 round trips from earth to the moon – each year.
