4 arrested in Morgan Co. drug busts

MORGAN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Morgan County authorities made two big drug busts this week.

Jonathan Bennett is being held on a $5,000 bond after deputies said they caught him with four pounds of marijuana in his car during a traffic stop. Investigators said he also had scales, cash, hash and baggies when he was pulled over in Lacey's Spring.

A drug raid in Eva Thursday night led to a car chase that ended with three people in jail. Drug agents were searching Richard Bates' property on Voyles Road when a car sped off from the scene. A chase ensued, and the car crashed. One man inside was apprehended while another got away.

Investigators said Dustin Smith was behind the wheel. He was charged with trafficking meth, attempting to elude, and several other traffic violations. The homeowner and a woman named Amy O'Neil are charged with drug possession.
