HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A Florence soldier returned home from Afghanistan Wednesday and got to meet his four-month-old daughter for the first time.

Sgt. Shaun Apger was welcomed home by members of the Patriot Guard and his family at Huntsville International Airport.

"This is his fourth deployment, but this time we have two little girls and that's never been the case for us before," said Shaun's wife, Kimberly.

Two-year-old Lilyana Apger couldn't wait to see her daddy, who for the very first time met his other daughter, four-month-old Alina, born while he was away.

Sgt. Apger was all smiles as he walked through the door and met his daughter for the first time.

"Words cannot explain it. It's the happiest and saddest I have ever been. It's the first time I am ever going to get her, but unfortunately I had to wait so long," he said.

His wife said she is relieved to have him home and that it's been a tough seven months.

Sgt. Apger is just happy to be home and reunited with his family.

"It was the hardest thing. Family is everything to me," he said.
