New school year, new teachers

Posted: Updated:
DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A new school year means some new teachers for the Decatur School District. There will be about 35 new teachers in Decatur classrooms this school year.

Some of them have experience teaching in other districts, like Antoinette Sisco-Williamson. She previously taught for both Marshall County and Madison City Schools. Now she says she's ready to take on Decatur.

"I love working with learning support students, initially figuring out what motivates them, what gets them going, what gets them excited and then finding ways to creatively infuse that into the curriculum and have them get very involved in their learning," said Sisco-Williamson.

On Tuesday, the new teachers got together for a welcome breakfast hosted at the 3M plant in Decatur. At the event, each new teacher was presented with a box full of classroom supplies. Representative Mo Brooks also spoke at the gathering.
